The two police stations "1 - North", for the city area north of the Ruhr, and "2 - South", south of the Ruhr, organize the patrol service in the city. There are four police stations in the north of the city, including the Homberg station to the west of the Rhine.
In the south, there are three stations and the Rheinhausen station west of the Rhine.
The officers are available to citizens at any time of day or night. In the first attack, they are responsible for all police tasks relating to averting danger, combating crime and traffic accidents.
They are supported by the priority services, which also include motorcyclists, as well as around 50 district officers who work at the police stations. They are the police contacts for citizens in their districts, the "protection man on the corner", so to speak.
The GE Directorate is completed by the riot police, the police custody service and the service dog squadron
The 6th BPH is one of a total of 18 hundred units in NRW and is deployed by the State Office for Central Police Services not only throughout NRW, but also throughout Germany to deal with major incidents (demonstrations, soccer matches, etc.).
All persons who have been arrested beforehand or on the basis of an arrest warrant after committing a criminal offense are initially taken into police custody.
The DHFSt, which currently has 13 dogs, is used to carry out police tasks that require the special skills of dogs.
