The blue light family is always there for you - at any time. The police, emergency and rescue services and the fire department help in the event of an accident. But to ensure that everyone who needs help gets help quickly, we need space. In an emergency, this space can save lives.
A serious traffic accident, a house fire, an accident at a major event. These are all scenarios that can occur at any time.
Larger operations require larger deployment areas
And then we are on the spot! To ensure that everything runs smoothly, we work in a structured manner and according to predefined action patterns. The larger the operation, the more space we need.
This often starts on the way to the scene. Escape routes must be clear. Keyword here: "rescue lane" The principle is very simple and is explained again here: https://polizei.nrw/en/rescue-lane-saves-lives
But we also need "working space" at the scene of the incident. For example, if there are a large number of casualties, the emergency and rescue services call out a so-called "MANV". MANV stands for "mass casualty incident".
In order to be able to treat all injured persons in the best possible way, various stations are set up. This allows the measures to be coordinated in order to provide the best possible assistance.
What can you do to help us? We have briefly summarized the most important points for you:
- Keep rescue routes clear!
- Form a rescue lane!
- Do not enter cordoned-off areas!
- Do not hinder rescue workers in their work!
- Do not distribute videos of rescue operations!
